This was a really special Blind Melon show to me! I had been waiting for Blind Melon to
make their way out to the ROcky Mountain region ever since they started touring again.
And out of all of the Colorado shows, the Boulder performance was the best!

Before the show, Vince and I were wandering around on The Hill hoping to see some of the
band members, but all we saw was a roadie washing the bus. As we walked past News van, a reporter
and camera guy stopped us and asked if they could interview me. I said okay without really thinking

5 SECOND FAME

After that, my friend Joel showed up, and we all decided to go to "The Sink" to have some food and beer
before the show. Shortly after that my friends Matt and Elizabeth joined us at the table. We were all
having a good time, and then all of a sudden the waitress seats Travis and some of his friends/family
at the table right next to us. Crazy! How cool is that?!? We tried not to stare at them while they were
hanging out, although I was noticing something. . . the young boy seated at the table with Travis. . .
is the same boy that's on the new album cover!

Well before we leave, we get Travis' attention and he meets me and all of my friends at the table.
Several days earlier, Travis had made a request for Elliot Smith videos. So Sonya had copied a nice little
collection of Elliot Smith DVDs and sent it to me in the mail so I could deliver it to Travis. When I gave
him those videos he broke out into a huge smile. I also gave him copies of photos and a DVD that I had made
from my Blind Melon trip in November. Travis seemed really stoked on the little care package of music.
Meeting Travis before the BOulder show at "The Sink" was definitely a highlight of my Colorado trip.

I wish I had got a better picture of this. After they played "Sometimes", Travis brought
Shannon out on stage and introduced him to the crowd as the boy who would be appearing on
their new album cover.

"This is my son/nephew here. THis is Shannon here, and he's actually on our front cover.
Give him a hand. It's his first Blind Melon show, so give him a hand. You havin' a good time Shannon?
Awesome! His mom is back here. . . she's gonna be his agent. Say hi. He was actually named after
Shannon in '95. " -Travis Warren
